The Teatro Infanta Isabel in Madrid presents until October 2nd the play La fiesta del chivo, a theatrical version of one of Mario Vargas Llosa’s best known novels, directed by Carlos Saura and adapted by Natalio Grueso, with Juan Echanove leading the cast.
In this play the last days of the dictator Trujillo in the Dominican Republic are narrated, the author uses the character of Urania Cabral, a successful lawyer who left the country in a mysterious way when she was a child. Three decades later, she returns to visit her dying father, Senator Agustín “Cerebrito” Cabral, a former high official of the regime who fell into disgrace. During that trip, the secret that the protagonist has jealously guarded since her escape will be revealed.
