On August 27, 1770, the philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was born in Stuttgart. He is often regarded as the leading thinker of modernity. On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of this event, the Círculo de Bellas Artes would like to pay tribute to him through a series of initiatives within the context of the international Hegel Now!
From December 16th to 18th, the Círculo de Bellas Artes will organize, together with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, the international congress entitled A Stellar Friendship: Hegel and Hölderlin 1770-2020, taking advantage of the fact that this year also marks a quarter of a millennium since the birth of the poet who wrote Hiperion. Other initiatives that have been carried out this year at the CBA to pay homage to the Swabian thinker have been the publication of a book on Logic and Constitution in the Hegelian system, a blog article to think about the possibility of an ecological use of Hegel, as well as the presentation, in a virtual edition of Mondays to the Circle, of new discoveries about the true causes of the philosopher’s death.
