The company of Sergio Bernal, principal dancer of the National Ballet until 2019, will present its show Volver, from classical ballet to the latest in Spanish dance, on 3 August at the Summer Festival of the Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
In this production, Bernal combines flamenco and bolero rhythms with classical ballet and Spanish dance choreography. On the stage of El Escorial he will be accompanied by Joaquín de Luz, director of the Compañía Nacional de Danza, and the dancer Lucía Campillo. Sergio Bernal, 29, from Madrid, has travelled all over the world dancing in the galas of international stars such as Maya Plisetskaya, Tamara Rojo and Sergei Polunin. In 2019 he was appointed Ambassador for the Arts of the United Kingdom by the Parliamentary Society of Arts, Fashion and Sports. When in September of that year he left the Spanish National Ballet after being its first dancer for seven years, he formed his own company together with Ricardo Cue.
