With a program based on premieres, new schedules and all the security measures, the Cine Estudio of the Círculo de Bellas Artes will reopen tomorrow, June 26, with the following titles Little Joe, Some Beasts, My Life with Amanda, Bacurau, Matthias & Maxime and White Gold.
Jessica Hausner’s Little Joe tells the story of a scientist who grows a genetically modified plant whose pollen contains a virus that destroys authentic feelings. But are the changes in behavior due to science or to the progressive dehumanization of the species? In Some Beasts, by Jorge Riquelme Serrano, a family travels to a desert island in southern Chile, with the idea of building a hotel. In My Life with Amanda, by Mikhaël Hers, the life of 24-year-old David in Paris is recounted, where he now lives on a daily basis. He moves from one small job to another and delays, for the time being, committed decisions. For his part, in Bacurau, by Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles, the viewer is immersed in the near future… The town of Bacurau, in the Brazilian sertão, is experiencing the mourning of its Carmelite matriarch, who has died at the age of 94. Matthias & Maxime, by Xavier Dolan, tells how two childhood friends kiss at the request of a university short film. Finally, in Grímur Hákonarson’s White Gold, Inga, a middle-aged farmer, rebels against the powerful local cooperative.
