On June 24th, the Ambassador of Belgium, Marc Calcoen, received the Gold Medal of Honour of the Nobility Corps of the Principality of Asturias on behalf of the Council of Nobles, in a ceremony that took place in the halls of the Belgian diplomatic headquarters.
The Belgian ambassador, accompanied by his wife, thanked the representatives of the Noble Corps of Asturias for this gesture, because it symbolises, remembers and does not leave in oblivion the strong ties of friendship that unite Spain and Belgium.
During the ceremony, Alfredo Leonard, Councillor for Institutional Relations of the Corps, said that “the Nobility of Asturias wanted to commemorate with this medal the excellent relations between the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium and the Asturian Corporation”. He also pointed out that with this distinction “we wanted to record the feelings of affection and friendship that the Knights and Ladies of the Corporation have towards Ambassador Calcoen, who will soon be ending his mandate in Spain.
The event was attended by the ambassadors of Luxembourg, Poland, Romania and Cyprus, and the ambassador of the Netherlands, as well as a delegation from the Asturian Corporation and distinguished Asturian business representatives. To conclude the event, the ambassador Calcoen invited the attendees to a reception in which he toasted Belgium and Spain.
