In order to stimulate new poetic writing in the Americas, Casa América announces the 20th Casa de América Prize for American Poetry, with special attention to poems that open or explore new perspectives and renewing themes.
Works that comply with the rules detailed in this link are eligible for this award. National authors from any of the countries of the Americas may compete with works written in Spanish, strictly unpublished. Likewise, the works submitted to the competition must have a minimum of 300 verses and their theme will be free and may be sent by e-mail, in pdf format, in which case two different addresses will be used: the first, email@example.com, for the competing work with the corresponding title and pseudonym; and the second, firstname.lastname@example.org with the title of the competing work, name, photocopy of the identity card or proof of nationality, the address and telephone number of the author, as well as a brief curriculum. The deadline for the submission of originals is April 24, 2020. The prize, endowed with five thousand euros (5,000 euros) as an advance on copyright, includes the publication of the winning book by Editorial Visor Libros. The amount will be given to the winner during the award ceremony, along with twenty copies of the published work. For any additional information related to the prize and the winners of previous editions, please consult the Casa América website.
