Author: Daniela Padovan.
On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, this afternoon at 7 p.m. the Italian Embassy will present a meeting with Daniela Padovan, author of the book Like a Frog in Winter: Three Women from Auschwitz. UNED professor Marina Sanfilippo will talk to the author.
What did it mean to be a woman in Auschwitz and how did this double desecration of the human being and of femininity as an element that generates life take place? Daniela Padoan answers these questions through the direct testimony of three women: Liliana Segre, Goti Bauer and Giuliana Tedeschi, who survived the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. Their memories, captured in a lucid and implacable dialogical narrative, help to make visible the experiences of the women, whose voice, silenced by the account of the male experience, has traditionally been relegated to the margins of Shoah historiography.
