Author: Ernesto Cardenal.
On the occasion of the celebration of Ernesto Cardenal’s 95th birthday, Casa América presents this evening, at 7pm in the Miguel de Cervantes Hall, a volume with the complete Poetry of the Nicaraguan writer. María Ángeles Pérez López, poet and professor of Hispanic American Literature at the University of Salamanca and responsible for editing the work, Alejandro Sierra Benayas, director of Editorial Trotta, and El Niño de Elche, musician, will participate.
Ernesto Cardenal’s work is situated at the historical and aesthetic crossroads of a very relevant part of contemporary poetry. The present complete poetry, published in permanent dialogue with Cardenal, thus allows us to notice diverse accents and tonalities, which offer, in a very original way and in a very rich dialogue with tradition (the many traditions to which it calls), an integral vision of the human being that does not exclude any of its profiles: together with the poet we find the historian, the anthropologist, the mystic, the revolutionary, to whom, as a whole, he aspires to name an individual and collective truth whose root is love.
