The U.S. representative for Venezuela, Elliot Abrams, described as “shameful” and “embarrassing” the escape of retired Venezuelan general Hugo Armando Carvajal, whom the Spanish authorities are seeking to capture and extradite to the United States, which accuses him of drug trafficking.
Carvajal, who was head of the Chavista counterintelligence, has been missing since last Friday, the 8th, when the National Court ordered his arrest in order to proceed with his extradition.
From Washington, Abrams insisted: “It is a shameful situation for the Government of Spain. We hope that the Spanish police will arrest him and bring him to the United States. We have been working on that.
