Free public film series, presented by American Space Madrid and American Cultural Studies, dedicated to the classic and crazy comedies known as “screwball” of the thirties and early forties. Screening in original version (English) with Spanish subtitles.
The first screening is this afternoon, at 6.45pm at the International Institute (calle Miguel Ángel, 8) with the 1938 film Bringing Up Baby (La fiera de mi niña), performed by Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. The aim of these projections is to highlight the action, independence and ingenuity of the female protagonists as one of the defining aspects of the genre, as well as to reflect on the power and influence of the actresses they portray.
