Casa Árabe is screening this afternoon, at 7.30pm, Carole Alfarah’s documentary Rebuilding, life, love, memories, which shows three stories of the lives of Syrian refugees in Germany, Denmark and Sweden after escaping the war in Syria and starting a new life from scratch in Europe, and Ziad Doueiri’s film The Insult (L’insulte). Projections in Original Version with Spanish Subtitles (VOSE).
In The Insult, a discussion arising from a trivial incident brings Toni and Yasser to trial. An insult at the wrong time is the beginning of an enormous conflict, becoming a national case that will reopen old wounds: a clash between different cultures and religions that only tolerance can resolve. Ziad Doueiri, known for important films dealing with the Middle East conflict, such as West Beirut (1998) or The Attack (2012), presents in this film a political and social parable in which the Israeli-Palestinian conflict beats in the background.
