The Indian airline IndiGo has ordered 300 aircraft from Airbus to add to its air fleet. This is one of the largest orders from a single air operator in the company’s history, according to the Spain-India Council Foundation.
Specifically, Indigo intends to acquire 300 aircraft of the A320 family. The order, which includes a mixture of A320neo, A321 and A321XLR, will raise the number of IndiGo A320 family aircraft to 730 units.
According to Guillaume Faury, executive director of Airbus, with this purchase IndiGo becomes “the leading company in the A320neo family”. “We believed in IndiGo from day one and are delighted to be able to continue this fruitful partnership”, said Christian Scherer, Airbus sales manager.
