The Fundación 1º de Mayo, the Fundación Alternativas and the Libros de La Catarata present this afternoon, at 7 p.m. in the Casa del Libro (calle Fuencarral, 119), the book 20 razones para que no te roben la Historia de España, by Bruno Estrada, with his intervention, as well as the presence of Diego López Garrido, executive vice-president of Fundación Alternativas; Joan Herrea, lawyer and former deputy, and Ramón Gorriz, president of the Fundación 1º de Mayo.
The narrative of the Spanish nation has often been dominated by a conservative vision. The appeal to the colonial past and cultural exclusion have served as artifacts to build one’s own identity, traits that are still present today when certain sectors speak of Spain. However, there is another alternative narrative, starting from the liberal tradition, whose historical milestones are often forgotten or misinterpreted. Bruno Estrada proposes a resignification of the idea of Spain. Faced with a grey Spain, which sounds like conquest, conservatism and backwardness, this book highlights another different nation, which amalgamates a multitude of different experiences, anecdotes and visions, full of creativity. These twenty reasons are an invitation to free ourselves from prejudices and to enter another history of Spain of which we can be very proud.
