The Royal Tapestry Factory presents the second conference of the season: The collection of flamenco tapestries from the Cathedral of Burgos. Treasure of textile art on Monday 28th October at 7 p.m. in its Teniers room., given by José Matesanz del Barrio, Doctor in Art History. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
Burgos Cathedral’s textile heritage includes a rich collection of 16th and 17th century Flemish tapestries from workshops in Brussels, Enghien and Audenarde, showing religious and secular themes. The patronage of the Cabildo, archbishops and private individuals was forming a group of more than 60 copies, which in recent years have been part of various exhibitions, recently undertaking a conservation and restoration plan of some of its most relevant pieces.
