Between 28 and 31 October, the Instituto Cervantes is promoting flamenco artists of the stature of guitarist Salvador Andrades, cantaora Esperanza León, bailaor David Morales and several flamenco experts for the first time in the city of Leeds.
Yorkshire will be filled with duende during the four days of Yorkshire’s first Flamenco Cultural Week. A diverse programme that includes concerts, conferences and workshops, all of them sharing the world of flamenco culture as their central axis. Workshops will also be given -one on flamenco guitar, another on flamenco accompaniment with dance, singing and guitar- and the Interactive Flamenco conference, where attendees will be encouraged to learn about bulerías, seguidillas or alegrías, with palmas, taconeo or whatever. Two activities will open the Week: the lecture Flamenco in the United Kingdom, by the specialist Sarah Chambers (Espíritu Flamenco) and the performance by the solo singer-songwriter Sergio García, ‘El Kiyo’. The closing will be the presentation and exhibition Preludios del flamenco, on Thursday, 31. More information at firstname.lastname@example.org Tel: 0113 246 1741.
