The ambassador of Nicaragua, Carlos Midence, together with the mayor of the town of Valdefuentes, Alvaro Arias Rubio, presided last weekend of October 5 and 6 the most colorful festival of his calendar: the Parade of the Boards, in which thousands of flowers made with paper decorate the streets and squares of the municipality of Caceres.
As every first Saturday of October Valdefuentes celebrated this festival, a great celebration that aims to get the title of Festival of Regional Tourist Interest. The boards were formerly used to carry the bread and sweets to the oven and today are carefully decorated to be carried by eight women with sweets, bread or fruit to make the offering to the Virgin of the Rosary.
In this edition Nicaragua was the guest country, so during the party there was, in addition to the cultural participation of local groups, the performance of traditional Nicaraguan dance groups, such as the dance group Nicatepelt. Also, a space was presented prepared for the country to present its tourist offer and at the same time offer a gastronomic sample.
