The second screening of the autumn film series at the Casa Árabe headquarters in Madrid is a fiction film by Mohamed Zineddaine, The healer, this afternoon at 7.30 p.m., in which the destinies of three characters end up uniting like the turns of a carousel. Projection in Original Version Subtitled in Spanish (VOSE). Entries are numbered.
On the outskirts of a mining village, young Abdou tries to learn to read and write. His adoptive mother Mbarka, the healer of the place, seeks to protect her privileged place through the laws of obscurantism. Chaayba, an eccentric thief, suffers from a skin disease and ends up visiting Mbarka in search of a cure. The story is presented as a Greek tragedy, in which the lives of three characters are intertwined, showing a new reality of a country in which women try to play a more visible and egalitarian role.
