Iberia will sponsor the Spanish football league in China during the 2019/2020 season, which will begin tomorrow, according to the agreement signed by the airline and LaLiga, which is the most closely followed sporting competition in the Asian country.
According to the website of the Spain-China Council Foundation, the agreement is part of the initiative #talentoabordo de Iberia, by which the airline aims to highlight and disseminate Spanish talent around the world. To this end, Spanish brands will carry out joint promotional activities in China, among which are planned both the organization of events throughout the country during the 2019/2020 season, as well as contests on social networks.
In relation to the agreement, Gemma Juncá, Iberia’s Brand and Marketing Director, said: “350 million people followed the LaLiga games last season in China. Partnering with one of Spain’s best-known brands internationally will strengthen our image in that country and Iberia’s role as an ambassador for Spanish culture, gastronomy and sport. It is something that is in our DNA and that is one of our vocations: to build bridges between countries and cultures”.
Iberia inaugurated its Madrid-Shanghái route in 2016. It currently operates three weekly flights and offers a total of 90,000 seats a year on this route.
