WATER IS MORE THAN A CRUCIAL ELEMENT FOR LIFE. IN THE PYRENEAN MOUNTAINS, IN THE ARMS THAT HOST LA SEU D’URGELL, THE MOST IMPOR- TANT CITY IN THE NORTH OF LLEIDA, WATER IS THE SYMBOL THAT NATURE HAS GIVEN IN ITS MARVELLOUS ARTISTIC MANIFESTATION. HUNDREDS OF SMALL PONDS, STREAMS, WILD RIVERS, SMALL FURROWS AND LIVELY PUD- DLES, HAVE CHISELLED THE LANDSCAPE TURNING IT INTO A MAGNIFICENT WORK OF ART.
The possibility of viewing imposing mountains pierced by glacial lakes, and skirting them, feeling them with the intensity they awaken in the senses, is a revealing experience.
Water is the guiding thread of a landscape forged by wind and snow, where opportunities to appreciate beauty, listen to the melody of birds or the splash of small amphibian species, can be combined with sports activities such as nature routes, active tourism or climbing.
The best season for scrutinising the details that the water has carved is to be enjoyed during the times of good weather, when the sunny days contrast with the luxuriance of the intense green and the deep blue of the calm waters. This area is ideal for enjoying oneself with one’s family, combining vis-its to nature with strolls through the intricate medieval streets that run through the city.
MODERN AND ELEGANT
The Parador de La Seu d’Urgell, located next to the Romanesque cathedral, presents an elegant fusion between the ma-norial past and the imperious need for modern comfort.
The Renaissance cloister of the Convent of the Dominicans serves as incontestable evidence of the building’s ancestry, becom-ing a space of calm that emulsifies perfectly with the modern and elegant decoration of the rest of the building.
Around this beautiful 16th century cloister, the current build-ing has been built, rigorously adjusted to the most exclu-sive needs of comfort and relaxation.
The natural light and abundant vegetation integrated in the rooms are a stimulus for unique evenings that can be combined with the cosy indoor pool, sauna and solarium where you can relax after an intense day.
The Parador Restaurant, called Alt Urgell, is a brand-new gastronomic area that fascinates with its minimalist decoration. At its tables you can find the best gastronomy of Lleida and a careful selection of dishes of profuse preparation and presentation.
Of particular interest is the Serra del Cadi, a spacious room located on the ground floor of the building. It is an ideal place for celebrating family events, company meetings and conventions, where professionalism is guaranteed.
COMMENTARY ON THE APOCALYPSE
La Seu is a city with historical roots, the only one in Catalonia that still preserves its Romanesque cathedral with a beautiful cloister carved in granite. Witnesses of ancient times are the Diocesan Museum, which houses one of the most beautiful examples of the Beato del Comentario al Apocalipsis, the Romanesque church of Sant Miguel or the town hall. The old town is a hive of history in turn between porticoed streets and old houses.
