The Embassy of the Dominican Republic and the SID Group presented last Friday the photographic exhibition Palmas de La Española together with the Royal Botanical Garden, the institution in charge of hosting the event. The ambassador of the Dominican Republic, Olivo Rodríguez Huertas, pointed out that “this is a concomitant exhibition to the Book Fair, where the Dominican Republic is the guest country this year, which allows visitors to the Royal Botanical Garden a consubstantial part of Dominican nature”.
The exhibition, the work of Dominican photographer Eladio Fernandez, will be open until June 10 and includes 30 species of palm, 19 of which are endemic to Hispaniola. The presentation also included the planting of a specimen of Sabal domingensis, a species native to the Caribbean island. In this sense, the executive president of the SID Group expressed her gratitude for “being able to capture a small part of the beauty of the island of Hispaniola in the heart of Madrid”.
