Professor Hernando Valencia Villa is giving a lecture this afternoon at 7 p.m. at the Centro Sefarad-Israel in Madrid in which he will analyse the contributions made by Hannah Arendt to the world history of thought. This event puts an end to the Hicieron Historia cycle organised by the Centre.
Hannah Arendt is one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century. Her contributions against the trivialization of evil and against totalitarianisms continue to enjoy enormous validity today. Professor Hernando Valencia Villa holds a doctorate in law from Yale University, a former human rights procurator in Colombia, a former deputy executive secretary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, a professor of human rights and international politics at Syracuse University in Madrid, and a representative of the Spanish Association of International Human Rights Law (AEDIDH) in Madrid.
