Tomorrow, Thursday the 6th, Casa América presents the exhibition La imagen sin límites. An anthological exhibition of Cuban photography, an attempt to illustrate and examine the evolution of photography in Cuba since 1840, the year in which the first daguerreotype machine arrived in the former Spanish colony, until the present day. The exhibition is part of PhotoEspaña 2019’s official programme. Admission is free until full capacity.
From the end of the eighties of the last century, a true turning point, Cuban photography underwent a process of updating and absorption of international visual codes, which completely transformed and modernized it. Today, various lens artists born on the island are recognized in the field of international art for their talent and expressiveness. Fifty photographers and one hundred images, plus an accompanying text, attempt to provide the intense, complex and interesting itinerary of artistic photography in Cuba.
