“In the last two years Greek exports to Spain have doubled, and investments have also increased”, said Greek Ambassador Chris J. Lazaris at a reception on Tuesday to mark his country’s national holiday.
“The latest Greek investment in Spain alone has created 8,000 jobs in Andalusia”, added the head of the Hellenic Mission in Madrid, who brought hundreds of guests from all walks of life to his official residence.
On the other hand, Lazaris assured that “our political relationship continues to develop very quickly” while he recalled the “robust support (of Greece) to Spain during the Catalan crisis, when we did not doubt for a second that it was necessary to take tough measures, although some of them were aimed at people who had helped us in the past”.
The ambassador added that “we treat territorial integrity and Spanish sovereignty as a matter of our own and I assure you that our countries will always be side by side at both European and international level for as long as this matter lasts”.
“Spain and Greece have common interests, especially at European level, but they also face common challenges, such as migration. The mutual sympathy that our countries have always had, together with these common interests and challenges, unite us inseparably in our European future”, he concluded.
