The Embassy of Poland and the Polish Institute of Culture, with the ambassador Marzenna Adamczyk and the director of the Institute, Mirosława Kubas-Paradowska, presented last Thursday May 23 at the Teatro Real a concert by the Polish soprano Iwona Sobotka with the pianist Ángel Cabrera on the occasion of the bicentennial celebration of the birth of the Polish composer Stanislaw Moniuszko.
The soprano Iwona Sobotka, winner of the Grand Prix of the Queen Elizabeth International Competition in Belgium, stands out for her experience in both the symphonic and the operatic fields. His voice, impeccable and versatile, has been described by the critics “of a great dramatic and poetic expressiveness”.
For his part, Ángel Cabrera is considered internationally as one of the best pianists of his generation, eliciting respect in his performances for his softness and vitality and distinguishing himself for his intimate and colorful sound.
The concert was composed of several songs with others to share other Poles like Chopin, Nowowiejski, Karlowicz or Rozycki, along with others composed by Guastavino, Montsalvatge, Falla or Sorozábal.
