The Embassy of Bangladesh in Spain held on Tuesday, April 9, the “Day of Bangladesh” at the Schiller University in Madrid. At the event, Ambassador Hassan Mahmood Khandker gave a speech in which he described briefly the history, politics, socio-economic developments and prospects of tourism in Bangladesh.
The ambassador also spoke about the bilateral relations with Spain, which are developed “between two friendly countries”, he said. Currently, Spain is the fourth largest export market of Bangladesh, only behind the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. In addition, Bangladesh is also the fourth largest trading partner of Spain in Asia.
The head of the Bangladeshi Mission in Spain recalled with deep respect the struggle and the outstanding contribution of the architect and father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and noted that he laid the foundations for Vision 2021, Vision 2041 and the Delta Plan -2100, formulated by the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.
Professor Jose B. Pinto moderated the event -in which the ambassador answered the questions of the students- which was attended by all members of Schiller University. Minister Harun Al Rashid, business advisor Mohammad Navid Safiullah and first secretar Md. Islam Corto also attended, among other Embassy officials.
