Until next January 27, 2019, the National Museum Thyssen Bornemisza hosts the monographic exhibition Max Beckmann. Exile figures, dedicated to the German painter and that gathers more than fifty works, including paintings, lithographs and sculptures.
Max Beckmann (Leipzig, 1884 – New York, 1950) is one of the most outstanding German artists of the 20th century. Although close in its beginnings to expressionism and new objectivity, Beckmann developed a personal and independent painting, with a realistic sign but full of symbolic resonances, which stood as a vigorous testimony of the society of his time.
