Chinese businesspeople slow down investments due to uncertainty in Catalonia

The Diplomat. 13/11/2017

The consultancy Veline Group has paralysed several investments in Spain, valued at 350 million euros, «waiting to see what happens in December» in Catalonia. Among them, there is one of a businessman from Hong Kong that had the intention of investing in a hotel chain in that autonomous community.

Veline Group has informed that Chinese companies «are starting to move their offices» from Catalonia to Madrid and investments in tourism are moving to Málaga. According to the same sources consulted by the Efe agency, a tour operator of Barcelona has cancelled «all the routes of Chinese groups to Catalonia until 2018, because it does not see it clear”.
