From 20 June to 24 September 2017, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum presents Renaissance Venice. Triumph of beauty and destruction of painting, an exhibition dedicated to Venetian art of the 16th century, its great period of splendour, with almost one hundred pieces by artists such as Tiziano, Tintoretto, Veronés, Jacopo Bassano, Giorgione or Lotto.
From the use of chiaroscuro and colour as foundations of the representation of figures and space, to a more direct observation of nature than that proposed by the classical tradition, with a more idealistic idea. The exhibition intends to show how the specific means of the Venetian painting brought a complete Renaissance idea of beauty, similar or even better than that of Rome, Parma or Florence.
