More than 3,300 soldiers participate in the Spanish Navy Flotex-17 exercise, which started yesterday and will last until 23 June in waters of the Gulf of Cádiz, the Strait of Gibraltar, the Alboran Sea and the western Mediterranean. Besides, 29 ships, a submarine, a landing force of the Navy, and helicopters and planes of the Naval Air Force, along with airships of the Air Force, units of the Army and several ships of the NATO permanent groups SNMG- 2 and SNMCMG-2 will take part in it.
The exercise focuses on the planning and management of a scenario of international crisis and its main objective is to coordinate, at all levels, the different needs of preparation and isolation of the units and the staff in the fleet interacting in a common scene.
