The Council of Ministers announced five new appointments yesterday, among them the former general director of the Foreign Service, Enrique Ruiz Molero, to run the Embassy in Canada.
Ruiz Molero was in charge of this position since November 2013. Previously he had held, among other responsibilities, the general subdirectories of Bilateral Economic Relations with European Countries and European Free Trade Areas, Multilateral Relations and Development and Personnel, the Mauritanian embassy, the consulates general in Perpignan and Los Angeles and the adjoining address of the Diplomatic School.
On the other hand, to run the Embassy in Finland has been assigned Manuel de la Cámara, who since 2012 was ambassador to Brazil, as The Diplomat advanced. De la Cámara served as Deputy Permanent Representative to NATO, Director General for Security and Disarmament and Foreign Policy for North America, Ambassador of Spain to Turkey, Deputy Director General of North America and Deputy Director General of Asia Southern and Eastern, among other charges.
The Council of Ministers also appointed José María Ferré de la Peña as ambassador to Lebanon, where he had previously been designated as a Special Envoy for Relations with UNIFIL. He has also been ambassador to the Special Mission for Relations with Muslim Communities and Organizations Abroad, adviser to the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for the EU and, since November 2013, ambassador to Iraq.
Manuel Antonio Acerete will represent Spain in the Political and Security Committee of the EU Council
Javier Carbajosa is the new ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago. To date, he served as ambassador to the Special Mission for Migratory Affairs and previously had been ambassador to Pakistan.
The Government has also appointed Manuel Antonio Acerete as Ambassador of Spain to the Political and Security Committee of the EU Council, a position very in line with his previous record as Head of Atlantic Affairs, the General Directorate of Security and Disarmament, deputy director general of International Security Affairs and maritime security adviser.
The Council of Ministers also appointed Ignacio Ybáñez (current ambassador in Moscow) to Armenia and José Ramón Barañano (ambassador in India) to Bhutan and Maldives as non-resident ambassadors.
