The Spanish companies making up the Spain-US Council Foundation transmitted yesterday to the Foreign Minister, Alfonso Dastis, their conviction that the economic measures announced by Trump’s Administration offer “good business opportunities in the medium and long term in that country”.
Dastis had a working breakfast with managing directors and top-level executives of the main Spanish companies with interests in the North American country, led by the president of the Foundation and president of Acciona, José Manuel Entrecanales, and accompanied by the Foundation’s secretary, Manuel Lejarreta.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, those companies represented are positioned on the American market in the sectors of banking, transport, defence, energy, telecommunications, insurances, financial services, energy, renewable energy, leisure parks, infrastructures, wrapping for meat products, the law and consultancy.

Dastis and the managers exchanged opinions on the economic prospects of this year in light of the economic policies announced by Trump and, according to the statement, they thanked the dialogue with the Government facing “the prospects opening in a very important market”.
The statement concludes remembering that economic relations between both countries “have experienced a significant growth in the last decade”, that bilateral trade has amounted to 25,000 million euros and that the US is the main foreign investor in Spain with a volume close to 70,000 million euros per year.
