This afternoon, at 19:00 hrs, Casa América presents the book 500 años de la cuenca del Pacífico. Hacia una historia global (500 years of the Pacific Rim. Towards a global history), by Omar Jaén Suárez.
The work tries to offer a five-century overall view of the biggest ocean and the countries around it, through different approaches, with a predilection for the geohistorical one. It is a synthesis aspiring to show a large number of readers the main lines of a history taking place in a singular, different and huge geography. The presentation will be attended by María Mercedes de la Guardia de Corró, Panama’s Ambassador to Spain; Rafael Rodríguez-Ponga, president of the Spanish Association of Studies of the Pacific; José María Moreno, Naval Museum; and Omar Jaén Suárez, author of the publication.
