The Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo, affirmed yesterday that he will look for formulas to protect the Rock’s membership of the EU and he suggested that the Brexit should be put into effect only for England and Wales, the British regions that voted the exit on Thursday.
Picardo also pointed out that the Rock will never be Spanish. “Anyone suggesting Gibraltarians that the price for having access to the single market, or for any other issue, is accepting the joint sovereignty is wasting their breath and their time. Joint sovereignty or any other attempt to usurp 100% of the British sovereignty over Gibraltar is doomed to failure from the moment it is born”, he said.
