The Irish Embassy is organising its traditional St Patrick’s Day Charity Gala Ball on Friday 18 March which will be held in the Hotel Palace in Madrid.
The money raised will be distributed to the Spanish Asociación Síndrome Williams España (ASWE), and the Williams Syndrome Association Ireland (WSAI). These funds will be used to establish an international summer camp for Irish and Spanish youngsters who suffer from this illness.
Williams Syndrome is a developmental disorder that affects one in every 7.500 newborn babies. It is characterised by similar facial features, mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, elevated blood calcium levels during infancy and a narrowing of the aorta producing supravalvular aortic stenosis in the pulmonary arteries.
The evening will begin with cocktails, followed by dinner. There will be live music, raffles and dancing. The Irish Embassy also announced that those interested in reserving a table for this charity ball may do so by email to info@stpatricksdaymadrid.es. Ticket prices are 100 euros per person.
Those who are unable to attend this event but who would like to make a donation or collaborate in any way, may also email info@stpatricksdaymadrid.es.
