The Institut Français in Madrid is screening the film La Môme (La vie en rose), this afternoon at 20hrs in its Vidas de artista Cycle. Directed in 2007 by Olivier Dahan, it stars Marion Cotillard, who won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Actress, playing Edith Piaf during her tempestuous life. The film is in French with Spanish subtitles.

Biography of the famous French singer Edith Piaf (1915-1963): her infancy, adolescence and her rise to fame. From the poorest slums of Paris to success in New York, Edith Piaf’s life was a battle to survive and love. Born in poverty, her magical voice and her passionate romances and friendships with the leading personalities of the age (Yves Montand, Jean Cocteau, Charles Aznavour, Marlene Dietrich, Marcel Cerdan) made her an international star.
