The Marca España High Commission premièred “60 years commitment”, a documentary of the History of Spain in the United Nations (UN) which the Ambassador to the UN, Román Oyarzun defined as “a history of success”.
In making this documentary which includes historical images, Marca España has been assisted by those who have represented Spain at this Organisation, such as Inocencio Arias, Francisco Villar and Juan Pablo de Laiglesia, as well as the current Ambassador, Román Oyarzun, and Marcelino Oreja, the Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1976 and 1980.
According to Oyarzun, during the six decades Spain has been in the UN, the country has become “the ninth contributor to the Organisation”. In this respect, the Spanish representative points out in the documentary that “the biggest contribution in history to a United Nations Fund was made by Spain, when it donated more than 900 million dollars to the United Nations Development Programme whose objective was to support compliance with the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
