The Spanish Cabinet approved the award of the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic on Friday to the Secretary-General of the Portuguese Information Services, Julio Alberto Carneiro Pereira.
Pereira has headed the Portuguese Secret Service since 2005, working with Spain in 2010 on dismantling of the ETA base established in Óbidos, to the north of Lisbon, and the arrest of several ETA terrorists connected with it.
