Author: Alberto Sucasas.
Centro Sefarad-Israel is collaborating with Editorial Devenir in the presentation of the essay La Shoá en Levinas: un eco inaudible, which was awarded the XV Premio Internacional de Ensayo Miguel de Unamuno 2014 by the Bilbao City Council. Author and publisher, Alberto Sucasas and Juan Pastor, will be taking part in the presentation of the work at the Palacio de Cañete, at 19 hrs., together with the dramatist Juan Mayorga.
The basis of the essay written by Alberto Sucasas is the conviction that the Nazi extermination of the European Jews constitutes an epochal event, that marks post-1945 history indelibly. And most particularly the cultural creation of the period. Neither human sciences nor artistic representation, nor philosophy –and obviously not religion or political practices– have been unaffected by the shock of the Shoah. The quantity of the subsequent cultural production, being relevant, seems with much less than the trauma should have unleashed. How could so much have given rise to so little?
