Saint Teresa’s recital and 16th century music with Sonnia L. Rivas

Saint Teresa’s recital of poems by Teresa of Jesus, John of the Cross and Anna of St. Bartholomew about the Spanish music of the 16th century will take place with the voice of Sonnia L. Rivas-Caballero and the vihuela of Jesús Sánchez. Besides, a very important contribution of the historical reviews by scientist Belén Yuste.

 

The music event will take place on Sunday 24 January at 12:00 hrs, at the Monastery of Saint Anna and Saint Joseph (58 General Aranaz Street, Madrid), in which was the first Carmelite monastery founded in Madrid by Saint John of the Cross. The famous painting And the almond tree shall flourish (which shows the death of Saint Teresa in the arms of Anna of St. Bartholomew), by Isabel Guerra, is now in this monastery.
