Argentina’s Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Santos, expressed, yesterday in Madrid, his hope for the reactivation of the travel sector to help “the poorest (Argentinian) to find their development in it”.

Santos gave a conference titled “The new Argentina: an opportunity for the Ibero-American tourism” in the Forum Efe-Casa de América, in which he highlighted that the government of Mauricio Macri is determined to “get Argentina back to the world and show what it is capable of”.

As well as promoting tourism in all of its regions, the reason why it participates in FITUR, the minister wanted to tell the Spanish companies that they have their investments guaranteed, according to Santos, who has met institutional representatives and investors in Spain.

Argentina’s Minister of Tourism was pleased that, since Macri’s investiture, “Argentina has become a different country”, in which they plan “the nation works with the provinces, and the public sector with the private”, after years of social fragmentation, “the worst that can happen to a country”.

Santos pointed out that the objectives of the new government are “zero poverty and the recovery of the institutional quality”. Therefore, he said that Macri asked all the members of his executive for “complete dedication, team work and communication with the citizen”.

The Forum was also attended by the secretary of State for Ibero-America, Jesús Gracia, who emphasized Santos’s achievements leading the Tourism Agency in Córdoba saying that “I have known him for 20 years”.
