The Diplomat. Madrid
Mariano Rajoy and José Manuel García-Margallo will attend the traditional reception offered every year by His Majesty the King at the Royal Palace for the Diplomatic Corps. Ambassadors have already received their invitation from the Royal Household to attend this event, which will take place on 28 January, according to information provided to The Diplomat.
It is not expected for Rajoy to have been invested president of the Government by then, which means that both him and García-Margallo will attend the ceremony as the acting president and the acting foreign minister, respectively. After a speech given by the Nuncio of His Holiness, Senior Member of the Diplomatic Corps, the Monarch usually wishes a Happy New Year to those ambassadors representing their countries and accredited in Madrid. The King also talks about facts and objectives of the Spanish foreign policy.
