The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel García-Margallo, will open an exhibition in the Palacio de Santa Cruz on Tuesday 19 January, on the occasion of the bicentenary of  the Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic which was created in March 1815 by King Fernando VII.

The Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic is one of the most important in Spain and is awarded for “those extraordinary actions of a civil nature made by Spanish or foreign persons that redound in benefit to the Nation or which contribute, in a relevant way, to fostering relations of friendship and cooperation of the Spanish Nation with the rest of the International Community”.

Visitors to the exhibition, which has been prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Protocol Services, can see the insignia corresponding to the different grades, capes, documents, etc., as well as explanatory videos and photographs.
