The Government of Nicolás Maduro is very upset about Spain’s attitude after the parliamentary election held in Venezuela on 6 December, which was roundly won by the opposition, according to information provided to The Diplomat.

The Bolivarian authorities think that in Spain, both the Government and PSOE have intensified their criticism at Maduro in the conflict open between the Executive Power and the National Assembly, controlled by parties of the opposition at the moment.

Caracas did not like Rajoy’s letter addressing the opposition or Margallo’s European initiative

Those actions causing discontent in the past few days in Maduro’s Government are two. On one hand, the support letter sent to the secretary general of the Democratic Unity Roundtable, Jesús Torrealba, by the Spanish Executive, Mariano Rajoy, in which he expresses his support facing “restrictions and subterfuges” that are being set in motion to limit the powers of Venezuela’s new National Assembly. On the other hand, the initiative of the Foreign Minister, José Manuel García-Margallo, for the European Union to pronounce itself on Venezuela’s political crisis.

The Bolivarian regime has already sent its complains, with discretion, to the Spanish Embassy in Caracas implying that a public response to what it considers to be an interference in Venezuela’s internal affairs could be given soon.
