A total of 3.013.412 people visited the Royal Residences, managed by the National Heritage, throughout 2015. These figures show an overall increase of 190.468 visitors, the equivalent of 6,75% more in comparison with 2014.
Once again, the Royal Palace in Madrid was the most popular last year, being visited by 1.329.282 people, an increase of 131.790 admissions (11,01% more) in comparison with 2014. The Royal Palace is open every day of the year, except on those days when it is being used for State events. Open from Monday to Thursday, admission is free during the last two hours of the day. As for the other Royal Residences, in 2015 visitors to the Monasterio de El Escorial numbered 473.932; the Palacio de La Granja (Segovia) 303.315 and the Palacio de Aranjuez, 263.752.
The National Heritage listed buildings which also experienced an increase in visitor numbers, in addition to the Palacio Real de Madrid, were the Palacio de La Almudaina (Seville) by 9,20%, the Monasterio de Yuste (Cáceres) which rose 9,09%, and the Palacio de La Granja by 8,37%.

More than 250.000 people visited the temporary exhibitions in the Royal Palace last year

The temporary exhibitions organised by the National Heritage also showed a significant rise in visitor numbers in 2015 when 257.740 people viewed the exhibitions El Retrato en las Colecciones Reales. De Juan de Flandes a Antonio López, and Arte Contemporáneo en Palacio. Pintura y Escultura en las Colecciones Reales, both in the Royal Palace in Madrid. This second exhibition will remain open until 28 February 2016.
In addition, 84.489 people visited the nativity scene the Belén Napolitano del Príncipe, in the Salón de Alabarderos del Palacio Real de Madrid. And, to be added to the total number of visitors, are 20.207 who attended the 38 concerts organised by the National Heritage.
