In 2015, Iberia was the most punctual airline of Europe and the second one of the world, according to the list made by FlightStats. The Spanish company operated 187,538 flights last year, 88.97 % of which landed on time.

Thanks to these data, Iberia, which had held the third position in the world ranking of 2014, goes up a position, being only behind Japan Airlines and beating also the Japanese company ANA (All Nipon Airways). The Spanish airline held the second position in August, September and October, and the first one in November.

In Europe, Iberia holds the first position, having the Polish LOT and the Dutch KLM behind it.

The subsidiary Iberia Express reached, in 2015, for the second consecutive year, the first world position in punctuality among “low cost” companies, with 31,355 flights and a rate of 93.5 % on time. Behind it are the Latvian airline Air Baltic and the Japanese Air Do. Iberia Express had lost the first position in the first half of the year, but it got it back in July and has maintained it since then.

Both Iberia and its subsidiary have improved their punctuality in 2015 compared to that of the previous year, despite growths of 10.1 % and 27.5 %, respectively, of the offer –measured in seat per kilometre offered-, opening more than 30 new routes in the last two years.

Air Nostrum (Iberia Group) held the tenth position of the list of most punctual regional airlines in Europe, with 87.38 % of its 82,016 flights landing on time.

Besides, Oneworld, the air alliance to which Iberia and Iberia Express belong, received, in 2015, and for the third consecutive year, the FlightStats award to the most punctual company.

In relation to airports, the most punctual was the Japanese Itami de Osaka, with 94.74 %, whereas that of Madrid-Barajas appears on the 64th position, with 81.77 % of its flights arriving on time, and the 14th among the European airports. Barcelona-El Prat holds the 19th position, with 78.23 % of its flights arriving on time.
