The United Kingdom’s Ambassador, Simon Manley, was the honour guest of the Excelentia Foundation and The Diplomat in Spain to attend the concert Broadway Musicals, which took place at the Royal Theatre, on Wednesday, on the occasion of the Three Wise Men Day.

Led by director Kynan Johns, sixty-three musicians of the Saint Cecilia Classical Orchestra and the New York Chamber Orchestra performed the most famous pieces of Broadway’s most famous musicals.

Tenor Jeremy Blossey; Broadway’s singer and habitual actor, Damian Humbley; and Clare Foster, actress and habitual singer in musicals, were the ones in charge of putting voice to themes as famous as The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, The Phantom of the Opera or Les Misérables.

The final number, a tribute to the Spanish audience that filled the Royal Theatre, was a moving “Friends for life”, the song that Andrew Lloyd Webber composed for Barcelona’s Olympic Games and that was performed by José Carreras and Sarah Brightman during the closing ceremony.

The British Ambassador enjoyed the wonderful show, which lasted more than two hours, and was pleased about the new collaboration between the Excelentia Foundation and The Diplomat in Spain, which tries to strengthen the connection between the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Spain and the top musical culture performed in our country.
