Navantia presented an offer yesterday to the Australian Navy for the construction in Spain of two combat replenishment ships (BAC in its Spanish acronym), which could be developed fully in the shipyards of Ferrol (Corunna), according to information provided by the company. The offer made by the Spanish shipping company will have to beat that presented by the only competing company, the South Korean Daewoo.
Australia will make public the company granted the construction of the combat replenishment ships. It already signed a contract with Navantia in 2007 valued at almost 1,200 million euros for the construction of two amphibious ships and the granting of technology and design of three destroyers.
