To commemorate the 150 anniversary of the birth of Irish poet, William Butler Yeats, the Yeats Society Madrid is organising a series of cultural engagements, working closely with the Irish Embassy. The central piece for these celebrations will be an art exhibition, with 26 paintings and sculptures by eight contemporary Irish artists, titled Of this Place, which shows how artists have inspired themselves on the very same landscape that shaped Yeats’ poetry.
As a complement to the art from Ireland, Madrid designer, Sandra Ruiz Bellew will be exhibiting her Minnaloushe: poetry in jewellery collection inspired by Yeats’ poetry and the women in his life. Both exhibitions will be accompanied by The life and work of William Butler Yeats exhibition, courtesy of the Irish Embassy.
The three exhibitions will be open to the public at the Sala Prado 19 of the Ateneo de Madrid, from 2 to 14 June.
