To coincide with the celebration, on 25 May of Africa Day, the Fundación Mujeres por África (MxA, in Spanish ) has issued a call for entries for the photography competition Africanas en España (African Women in Spain), which this year enters its third year, and the principal aim of which is to expose the day to day life of the thousands of African women who currently live in Spain. Above is the winning photograph from last year’s competition, La Virgen de Mali, by Jesús Ángel Gabaldón. The only term that all photographs must meet is that that they show African women in any part of their life, be it personal or professional, and that they be taken in Spain.
The competition is open to photography amateurs and professionals, which meet the requirements set out in the Terms and conditions. Entries can be submitted through a simple form available online at the Fundación MxA’s website. There is a first prize, worth 1,000 euros and a second one for 500 euros. Submissions will be accepted from today until 16 November.
