Yesterday, Spain started, for the first time, to finance itself for free, by granting 4,645.9 million euros in letters in the short term, with an interest of 0 % for its six-month debt, whereas, in a year, it applied a marginal interest of 0.10 %, the lowest of the historical series.
Of the 4,645.9 million euros granted, 725 were granted for six-month debt with a profitability of 0%, whereas the remaining 3,920.97 were granted for twelve-month debt with an interest of 0.010 %. Therefore, Spain is about to join other countries financing themselves with negative costs such as Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France and Holland.
